About Finding The Light Foundation:
Finding the Light Foundation is an initiative to help unite and mobilise supporters of South Africa in support of addressing challenges facing the country’s youth.
The foundation has developed the show which brings together stars of London’s West End and South African Musical Theatre in a celebration of the human spirit and with a mission to change lives. Taking place over five nights, the show will showcase original scoring, world-class vocal performances, and a fusion of talent in a captivating celebration of the human spirit. Audiences can expect an uplifting experience as they witness the synergy of international and local performers on stage.
A 100% not-for-profit project, with all net proceeds directed to the Kolisi Foundation, founded by Rachel and Siya Kolisi (Springbok Captain and Rugby World Champion). The Kolisi Foundation is committed to development work in South Africa, striving to empower young people to reach their full potential and positively impact their communities. Their work focuses on three core areas which are food security; gender-based violence; and creating safe spaces through sport and education.
Charity Impact and Additional Contributions:
In addition to providing entertainment, Finding the Light will run two key initiatives attached to the show: on Saturday 20 April, 250 young people from over 20 community-based organisations will have the chance to experience the magic of the theatre for the first time.
And on 19 April, a conference will take place at the Artscape Theatre focusing on fostering collaboration between academics, mental health practitioners and programme workers from over 20 organisations with a focus on addressing the extremely high levels of trauma in our youth and communities. Finally, Finding the Light will employ over 50 individuals for five days, bringing a world-class production to Cape Town and supporting the local economy.
Through sponsorship and donations, Finding the Light endeavours to double every pound and rand contributed, amplifying the support for the Kolisi Foundation and its beneficiary organisations.
Moreover, the show will champion youth theatre by offering sixteen students - selected from the Waterfront Theatre School and LAMTA - an opportunity to perform on one of Cape Town's most prestigious stages, nurturing emerging talent and enriching the local arts scene.
